2025 Opportunity Grants
North Georgia Community Foundation Announces $200,000 in Opportunity Grants to Four Nonprofit Recipients
[November 14, 2025 | Gainesville, Georgia] – The North Georgia Community Foundation (NGCF) is proud to announce the awarding of $200,000 in Opportunity Grants to four nonprofit organizations serving communities across North Georgia. These funds support organizations launching new services or expanding existing programs to address critical needs in the region.“NGCF Opportunity Grants help nonprofits take transformative actions that expand their impact and address urgent or emerging needs in our community,” said Abi Carter, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at NGCF. “These grants act as catalytic investments—empowering organizations to initiate meaningful change that may not otherwise be possible due to limited funding.”
This year’s awardees help meet community needs in the areas of youth development, recovery support, education, accessibility, and family services. The 2025 Opportunity Grant recipients and their funded initiatives include:
- Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier – To launch a new middle school program at the Walters Club and address a significant service gap—Hall County currently has no after-school programs for middle school students. The program will serve students across the Hall County School District, with a focus on Chestatee Academy and South Hall Middle, both Title I schools serving predominantly low-income families.
- J’s Place – To support the expansion of Recovery Services into Dawson County through the opening of a second facility. Funding will assist with start-up facility costs and overhead to begin offering peer recovery coaching, employment and résumé support, connections to treatment resources, and social and service activities that support individuals affected by substance use disorder.
- Catalyst Christian Learning Center – To expand programming to include students at White County Middle School, offering biblically based, character-focused elective classes for grades 6–8. Funding will support curriculum development, classroom setup, transportation, and teacher salaries as the program partners with the school system to equip students with skills in leadership, relationships, and decision-making.
- Cleveland Care Center – Toward the installation of an elevator that will expand access for individuals with mobility impairments and allow the Center to fully utilize its upstairs training space. The Center supports life-skills classes, tutoring programs, CPR certification, and essential storage for the organization’s thrift store. The project is partially funded through this grant, with the Center raising the remaining $20,000.
NGCF’s Grant Programs are made possible through the NGCF Community Fund, a permanent resource of charitable funds that are used to address North Georgia’s most pressing needs.
