Types of Funds

The Community Foundation offers a variety of options to make the most of your giving. Whether you want to organize and simplify your giving, support a specific cause, partner with us to position north Georgia for a strong future, help students achieve their educational dreams or leave a charitable legacy, we’ll customize a fund to meet your needs.

Donor Advised Fund

Advised Funds allow you to make a gift to the Community Foundation and remain actively involved in recommending uses for the gift and are excellent vehicles for donors to set aside charitable dollars now and distribute them gradually over time. You recommend the organizations to receive grants, and we do the due diligence and paperwork. Donors often regard Advised Funds as charitable investment accounts, using a portion of the fund’s income to support their favorite charities annually or as needs arise.

Field of Interest Fund

By establishing a Field of Interest Fund you can target your gift to address needs in an area important to you, such as the environment, arts, education, or specific geographic areas in northeast Georgia. You may set up your own field of interest fund or contribute to one of ours.

Scholarship Fund

Scholarship Funds enable you to support students in achieving their academic dreams. They can be customized to support an area of study, a particular school, a specific academic or extracurricular achievement or a host of other criteria important to you. We handle the administration of the fund, including the application and selection process, with as much or as little donor involvement as desired.

Designated Fund

Donor Designated Funds allow you to provide permanent ongoing support to one or more charities. The organizations you are most passionate about can receive a gift in your name forever through a Designated Fund.

For Good. For Ever. Endowment Fund

The For Good. For Ever. Endowment Fund is the best way to ensure the future needs of north Georgia are met. These funds are our community’s endowment and are not specifically designated for use by a particular agency, cause or area of interest. By leveraging the power of collective giving, the fund enables the Community Foundation to respond to pressing and often changing needs and benefit the local community forever.

Fiscal Sponsorship Fund

A Fiscal Sponsorship provides a way for individuals and groups to address community issues under the umbrella of the North Georgia Community Foundation and is an alternative to starting your own nonprofit organization. It is an agreement,  requiring NGCF board approval, between NGCF and the charitable venture that is intended to assist with helping passionate people have a simple and effective way to solicit support for their initiative. We welcome the opportunity to discuss this option for projects in our footprint.
