The North Georgia Community Foundation's 11th annual Philanthropy Day Luncheon will honor the Foundation's 2015 Philanthropists of the Year and Woodrow Stewart Leadership in Philanthropy Award recipients Nov. 19 at First Baptist Church of Gainesville Banquet Hall.

NGCF Announces 2015 Community Impact Grant Recipients

The North Georgia Community Foundation awarded $24,500 in Community Impact Grants to 11 nonprofit organizations in northeast Georgia. These grants help fund programs designed to improve the quality of life in the north Georgia region.

The North Georgia Community Foundation Board of Directors voted to create its first affiliate foundation, the Forsyth County Community Foundation.

Michelle Prater Named as New President & CEO

The North Georgia Community Foundation named Michelle R. Prater as its new President & CEO.  A Flowery Branch resident, Prater comes to the Community Foundation with a strong background in nonprofit work having most recently served as United Way of Greater Atlanta's Senior Director for Volunteerism.

Jim Mathis Announces Retirement from North Georgia Community Foundation

North Georgia Community Foundation President/CEO Jim Mathis has announced his retirement.  He will remain with the Foundation until December 2016 to mentor his successor and spearhead a major campaign to raise funds to support NGCF's initiatives.

Sponsored by American Funds, the Philanthropy at its Best event provides an opportunity to learn how the Foundation can be a charitable giving resource for professional advisors and their clients.  Representatives from American Funds and the NGCF board will discuss how their relationship is beneficial to fund holders at NGCF.

Anonymous Donor Offers to Help Grow Myrtle Figureras Scholarship Fund

A matching funds campaign is underway to grow the Myrtle Figureras Scholarship Fund to a $10,000 endowed level. An anonymous donor has offered $5,000 in matching funds if the community can raise an additional $5,000 by Sept. 1, 2015.

The scholarship fund, established the Coleman, Chambers & Rogers law firm in 2014, recently awarded its first awards to Grace Miller and Cally Orr.

NGCF President Jim Mathis Named Mike Banks Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient

The University of North Georgia's Mike Cottrell School of Business has named North Georgia Community Foundation President Jim Mathis as its first recipient of the Mike Banks Lifetime Achievement Award, which will be awarded on April 1 at the college's Celebrating Inspirational Leaders event.
