NGCF 2023 Opportunity Grant Recipients Announced

$107,000 Awarded to Support Nonprofit Programs Across North Georgia

Gainesville, GA – The North Georgia Community Foundation (NGCF) recently announced their 2023 Opportunity Grant recipients who received a total of $107,000. This grant program is designed to identify and support nonprofits with the initiation of new services, or the expansion of current services, that focus on addressing key community issues. The funding enables these nonprofits to make a tangible difference in the areas that they serve, through initiatives they otherwise would not be able to. The recipients and areas being supported are:

  • Community Helping Place ($60,000)
Purchasing and remodeling a Mobile Service Unit, which will provide CHP a new way to help clients overcome transportation barriers.
  • Promise 686 ($20,000)
Implementing the Care Portal and Family Advocacy Program to create ‘wrap-around support’ for foster families in Rabun County.
  • Open Arms Clinic ($15,000)
Enabling the expansion of their diabetes program, ‘Sweet Feet,’ to serve additional patients.
  • White County Family Connection ($12,000)
Funding salary and supplies for a contract employee working with the new School Mentoring Program serving White County students.

“Our Opportunity Grants Program reminds me of a grassroots-type initiative where we are able to work on a local level to recognize and meet specific community needs. These four nonprofit organizations have the capacity to create tangible differences through their new or expanding programs.” said Abi Carter, NGCF’s Director of Strategic Initiatives. “NGCF is proud to support their efforts and looks forward to witnessing the positive impact they will have on our community.”

NGCF will be announcing their 2023 Community Grant award recipients in December. For more information about the Opportunity Grants Program, please contact Abi Carter, Director of Strategic Initiatives, at acarter@ngcf.org or visit the NGCF website at www.ngcf.org/ngcf-grant-programs.
