Deputy Blane Dixon Fallen Heroes Fund
Honoring a Legacy of Service:
The Blane Dixon Fallen Heroes Fund
“Even in tragedy, great things can come.” These words were spoken by the family of Hall County Sheriff’s Deputy Blane Dixon who tragically lost his life in the line of duty on July 8, 2019. In the face of this tragedy, though unprepared, the community rallied together to provide support for Deputy Dixon’s family.
Recognizing a need for a more organized and proactive support system to be in place, should such an event occur again, led to the establishment of the Blane Dixon Fallen Heroes Fund at the North Georgia Community Foundation (NGCF). The purpose of the fund is clear: to offer immediate and impactful financial support for the loved ones of Hall County first responders who are critically injured or lose their life in the line of duty.
This fund sends a powerful message of gratitude to the brave men and women who safeguard our communities, and their families, that they will be taken care of during their most challenging times. The family of Deputy Dixon expresses their heartfelt desire that the fund will remain untouched by future tragedies but takes comfort in knowing that should the need arise, the foundation is in place for the community to provide timely support. The fund continues to grow through community engagement and fundraising efforts, including a sell-out golf tournament which serves as a remembrance to the legacy of Deputy Dixon and support for local law enforcement and their families.
The Blane Dixon Fallen Heroes Fund stands as a testament to the power of collective action and compassion in times of deep hardship. NGCF is proud to administer such a significant fund that reflects their ongoing commitment to responding to community needs and supporting local heroes. This fund is one of many that have been established at the Foundation; sometimes to honor the life of a loved one, to create a personal legacy, or to support a specific area of need in our community.
