NGCF Annual Scholarship Cycle is Open: Two New Scholarships Added for 2022
Application Deadline: March 1, 2022
Gainesville, GA – The North Georgia Community Foundation’s (NGCF) annual scholarship cycle is now open, with scholarship awards from $500 to $15,000 to be announced this spring. Students across North Georgia may submit applications online through March 1, 2022.
NGCF administers 67 active scholarship funds that help graduating high school seniors, college students, and non-traditional students achieve their dreams of advancing their education. In addition to previously available scholarship opportunities, two new funds have been established and made available for this year’s cycle:
- The Mary Joan Keeney Scholarship will provide funds to non-traditional*, female students interested in nursing and mental health careers to help further their education and/or certification. Students may apply each year they are in school. Two scholarships of $1,900 each will be awarded this year. *Non-traditional is defined as a first-time student or returning student that has not recently graduated from high school pursuing an advanced certificate or degree.
- The Rushton Educational Scholarship will open their inaugural scholarship year with a one-time award of $2,750 to a full-time rising junior or senior college student pursuing a degree in accounting. The student must be attending a public or private college or university in Georgia and maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or above. Applicants’ extra-curricular activities will also be considered and may increase the possibility of being selected for the award.
“Scholarships can make all the difference in a student’s educational journey,” said Megan Martin, NGCF’s Vice President of Marketing & Development. “By providing these scholarship opportunities, our fundholders are making an investment in the students as well as in the future of our community.”
Each NGCF scholarship fund has its own award amount, specific purpose and eligibility criteria. In 2021, NGCF’s annual cycle awarded 217 scholarships totaling $426,500.
Applications are reviewed by scholarship committees that include community volunteers as well as members of the NGCF board and staff. Student application information remains anonymous, ensuring that award recipients meet the criteria established within individual scholarship funds.
